Ed has agreed a retainer for the 2011 season with jockey Eddie Ahern, who promptly celebrated his new job when winning for us on PALM PILOT at Lingfield on Saturday, her second consecutive win on the Polytrack.
Palm Pilot, who came back coughing after being beaten at Wolverhampton in November, has shown that form to be all wrong, being subsequently short-headed at Lingfield before winning at both Dunstall Park and back here in the mile handicap at Lingfield.
Explaining his decision to sign up a stable jockey, Ed said:"We have almost 100 horses this year, and, while we have always gone for the best available, it has become increasingly difficult to find the right man, so after much consultaion with my owners, we decided to have a stable jockey."
"Eddie and I have always got on well, and he has ridden a lot of winners for La Grange Stables - he won the Solario Stakes at Sandown on Native Khan last season and is looking forward to get back on him, and, though Ryan Moore will keep the ride on Snow Fairy, if for some reason he should be unavailable then Eddie, who has won on the filly, too, will no doubt be happy to step in."
