A long box drive to Redcar was made worthwhile by a convincing victory for Naaz in his handicap debut today over a mile. Naaz had started his racing career with a promising third at Yarmouth earlier in the year but had since been disappointing in his two following runs. The first time blinkers and rain softened ground certainly seemed to have the desired effect on him as he sprung a surprise by winning at the huge price of 20-1! Ridden by P Makin, he was settled in mid-division and made his challenge over two furlongs out and went on to win by two and a quarter lengths. This victory made it a successful week for owner Mr Robert Ng who also had a big priced victory at Newbury on Saturday with High Troja.
