Blushes

It has been a very blustery morning here in Newmarket and has turned overcast but it has remained dry. The horses underwent their usual Monday morning routine and we remain on track to have some runners at York next week. Caravaggio was very impressive in the Phoenix Stakes yesterday and travelled extremely well through the race before putting it to bed with the minimum of fuss. He is the best two year old we have seen but we will have to wait and see if he will stay the mile of The Guineas, there will be strong arguments from both the for and against camps.

We have the one runner today at Windsor and with four non-runners it has cut up into a three runner race. Blushes is sporting first time blinkers and they appear to help her at home so I hope they have the same effect on the racecourse later on tonight. Reaver is the rightful favourite having shaped better than the bare result last time and won on his penultimate start and Live Dangerously has never won over further than 7f but was placed over a mile last time.

The cricket was quite amazing, England were magnificent in their second innings and then when the draw looked like the most likely outcome they ripped through Pakistan’s middle order. A gallant last stand was ended by Ali and the current side are extremely resilient. It was good to get a first gold medal at the Olympics and a World Record too as Adam Peaty delivered in the pool much to his Grandmother’s delight, she has now become a sensation on twitter!
