Jabalaly
Good morning from Newmarket. We get another week started gently today, with Jabalaly heading to Kempton to take his chance in the seven-furlong handicap at 8.00.
The three-year-old son of Moohaajim remains a maiden after six starts, but he has demonstrated significant promise on several occasions. We had stepped him up to a mile on his two most recent starts, but the fact he just failed to see out his race at this venue last time has encouraged us to drop him back a furlong.
He was also sporting blinkers for the first time on his last run, and we have retained the headgear today. A reproduction of that effort would surely see him go close, and a rating of 75 looks perfectly fair. The chief concern this evening is his draw, as he is berthed widest of all in stall 12. He was actually in the same gat last time out, and on that occasion we took our medicine and dropped in, before he ran on through the field. Similar tactics will most probably have to be employed tonight, and let’s hope he can go two places better.
All the best,
Ed.
