Global Acclamation
Good morning from Newmarket. The weather has been quite horrible here over the past day or so, and inevitably we are starting to see a lot of soft ground, and even an abandonment at Windsor. We have experienced an abandonment of our own at Kempton today, with Global Myth declared a non-runner due to a bruised foot.
That leaves us with just the one runner today, namely Global Acclamation in the 2.30 at Yarmouth. From the family of Gr.1 Prix Marcel Boussac heroine Denebola, Global Acclamation made his racecourse debut at Salisbury just under a fortnight ago. Racing over seven-furlongs, he travelled quite nicely into the race and threatened to really get involved when pulled out three furlongs from home. He just tired a little late on and faded to finish fifth, but it was unquestionably an encouraging performance.
Based on the jockey’s report and visual evidence, a step back to six-furlongs seems a sensible move at this stage. There are a host of dangers in opposition today, including market leaders Aplomb and Sarasota Bay, whilst the newcomer Lyndon B also looks notable on paper. The rain softened ground is also a potential issue, though as a son of Acclamation I hope he will cope with it fairly well.
With normal improvement from debut it is hoped that Global Acclamation can run a respectable race and hopefully he has a small each way chance. Gerald Mosse rides.
All the best,
Ed.
