Blushing Red
It is an overcast day here in Newmarket and we have had some light showers. We are due some much needed rain here on Wednesday and if the forecast is right then we will get a lot of rain over a twenty four hour period.
We started Sagely back over a Mile at Ascot on Saturday and she got a little tired late on. I would expect to see a lot of improvement from her next time and we will step her back up to ten furlongs. Apex King ran respectably in the Derby Trial and possibly did not stay, we will look for a race over ten furlongs for him in the future. The Lacemaker was caught out wide after breaking well from her double figure draw and was too keen, she is much better than this run and we will freshen her up before looking for a race for her.
I run four horses at Windsor this evening. We run King Kevin and Sparte Quercus in the Median Auction at 5:20. King Kevin is still learning what racing is all about and showed a glimmer of ability on debut, it looks a strong race for a Median Auction with the front two in the market having run to around a mark of 80. Sparte Quercus has come to us from Hong Kong and we are still learning about him. He ran once over 5f as a Griffin there and this ten furlong trip looks more suitable for him. He will come on for the run but we hope he can show us that he possesses some ability.
Indian Warrior runs in the 5f Novice race at 6:20. He ran well at Yarmouth when fourth but he has around three lengths to make up on Choice Encounter who finished ahead of him there. Last Voyage is a strong favourite for the Charlie Appleby stable and they are 4-4 with their newcomers currently. I would expect our horse to step forward a little for his debut but it does look a good race. Blushing Red is our last runner in the 1m4f handicap at 20:20. He did well to win at Newcastle given he was keen for the majority of the race but it was probably not a strong affair. I am hoping the ground at Windsor will be nice this evening and if he can settle then he should have a solid each chance. Road To Dubai won with a little up his sleeve last time and is an obvious danger whilst Sussex Ranger is likely to improve for a dramatic step up in trip.
