Booshbash
It was damp to start with here in Newmarket but it is now dry with a slight breeze making it feel very cold indeed. It was sad to see Sprinter Sacre head into retirement on Saturday as he has lightened up many Winter days but he looked very well and let’s hope he has a long and happy retirement. Lingfield held two Listed races and the winner of the Golden Rose, Lord Of The Land, is on an upward curve he shapes as if he will be even better over 7f. Team Talk won the Churchill and given how unexposed he is there is likely a lot more to come, Grendisar is soon to be seven and whilst he disappointed in fourth he has had a long break and will still be force in the big 1m2f races over the Winter.
Sparkle ran well when beaten less than a length in the 7f Nursery at Lingfield on Friday. The winner got the run of the race from the front, she saw out the 7f well and was only just denied second. It looked like a competitive race for the grade and we will more than likely give her one more run before giving her a break. Gloryette travelled well in the concluding 1m4f handicap before proving to be one paced, we will more than likely step her up in trip again.
Booshbash is our only runner today in the 2:00 at Newcastle. The likely favourite Dominating is a non runner and we are now the current favourite. Looking at her opposition, Oxford Blu is highly likely to improve for a step up in trip and has Luke Morris back on board and a visor has been applied for the first time. La Vie En Rose is unexposed along with Siyahamba but we are the horse to beat on the form book. Our filly ran well at Kempton last time and everything we have seen so far suggests the 1m2f trip should not pose a problem. I decided to give her a break after her last run with a view to bringing her back for a Winter campaign and while she will improve again for what she does today, she seems well at home.
