Justice First before he left for the races yesterday
Justice Prevails
Justice First showed great tenacity to gain a third career win under the floodlights at Kempton Park last night. The son of Zebedee broke smartly from his draw in stall six and Pat Cosgrave soon had him in the perfect position. As the three protagonists battled well into the final furlong it looked as though Justice First may have to settle for third place but he had other ideas and guts and determination saw him get his head in front when it mattered.
He got the fast pace that he required when Mystical Spirit set a searching gallop out in front. Justice First was sixth at Lingfield last time in a slowly run race when beaten a length and this was his first win over the mile trip.
Given the proximity of the second and the third we hope that the handicapper will only nudge him up slightly in the weights. This will allow him to remain competitive and with the spirit he showed last night, we hope he can go close in a similarly competitive handicap in the future.
There was a nasty incident in the home straight and we hope that Alice Mills and Martin Lane and their mounts Isis Blue and Wink Oliver are all okay this morning.
Congratulations to Justice First’s owner Mr Ng, he has been a big supporter of the yard and it is fantastic to train him the first of hopefully many winners this year.
