Island Remede delighted her connections by winning The Thoroughbred Breeders Association Nursery Handicap at Newmarket this evening, showing no ill effects of her close second at Nottingham seven days earlier.
Keeping it simple, Paul Hanagan jumped out in front on the daughter of Medicean, taking the field along a good pace. Joined as she descended into the dip by the Mark Johnston trained Notarised, Island Remede quickly asserted her authority when asked to quicken by Hanagan inside the two furlong pole, stretching clear of the field to win by seven lengths for her owners Mr and Mrs Quy.
