Thirsty work: Red Cadeaux keeping hydrated as the long journey begins.

A glorious autumnal morning and a fine day in prospect.

OE Partnership member Will Wyatt, whose family own Dukes Stud, was here after breakfast to see On The Bill out at exercise. He was one of six two-year-olds we worked up the Long Hill grass and all went smoothly.

Robin reports everything to be on song with our travellers after they departed Heathrow yesterday evening. It’s business as usual for Red Cadeaux, who continues to take everything in his stride, while Trip To Paris and Manndawi appear to be adapting well to their new surroundings.

Two runners on the Rowley Mile this afternoon. Island Remede goes in search of more black type in the Listed Princess Royal Stakes and the drying ground is a negative for her. She retains plenty of ability and has run some fine races in defeat this season, it’s just unfortunate that her programme has tended to coincide with the drier moments of the summer!

Red Galileo returned to form at Doncaster two weeks ago, although we are hoping history doesn’t repeat itself in the Listed Godolphin Stakes, as he was denied by a nose in this contest last year having finished runner-up in the same conditions race at the St Leger Meeting previously! However, this looks a deeper renewal than 12 months ago and is effectively a Group 3, but we know he enjoys the course and distance and the ground should be spot on for him.

No declarations for Sunday and only a handful of entries for Thursday, although we did give Pyla the option of a mile fillies’ handicap at Beverley. We will try to pick and choose our options carefully with her as it would be great if she could land the hat-trick.

Day two of the Cambridgeshire Meeting looks a cracker and we have a fabulous weekend of sport in store. The autumn programme really is superb in this part of the world and to be bathed in the final dregs of sunshine throughout makes it that little bit better.

Back tomorrow.
