The Lacemaker
It has been a miserable morning here but the weather is nowhere near as bad as yesterday afternoon when thunder and torrential rain hit the Newmarket area. We worked some of the two year olds on the Al Bahathri and I was pleased with how they are progressing. I would have liked to have used the grass but the inclement weather has put it off limits.
We have no runners today but I was very pleased with Gabrielle’s run at Newmarket yesterday. She showed much more than she had on debut and the early speed she displayed suggested that a drop back in trip to six furlongs would be in her favour. Next week is looking like a quietish week but I hope to have some runners on the nice Epsom card on Wednesday.
I attended a drinks party hosted by the BHA board yesterday evening, Nick Rust was in attendance and Steve Harman gave a well-received speech. It is very sad that both days of Newbury have been abandoned and it will be very tough logistically to move tomorrow's card to the all-weather but we shall wait and see what transpires.
