Melodies
After a very misty start to proceedings here at HQ the sun shone through and we look like we will have another dry day. The forecast rain yesterday evening arrived momentarily but I would expect the Rowley Mile to dry out towards good ground by tomorrow.
Yesterday was a disappointing day with both our horses failing to run their races but Miss Minding was a little buzzy before her race and Warrior Prince did not finish off his race on his first try at one mile six furlongs.
We run three horses today starting with Melodies in the 4:35 at Newbury. Melodies ran a lovely race on her first start at Salisbury and the penny dropped late on in the race and she ran on up the far rail to finish fourth. I would expect her to improve on that run but she is going to need further in time and there are some nice fillies opposing us this afternoon. Lamya was impressive last time and escapes a penalty as she won a class five. Veracious has a pedigree to die for and is well touted whilst Naqaawa will improve for her debut like us. It will be a race that should throw up plenty of future winners.
Indian Warrior runs up at Newcastle in the 7:15. He had a horrible trip around Wolverhampton last time and I would expect a much better showing this evening. Sosian’s first two runs were very solid and she looks the horse we all have to beat, having run well at Newcastle over 5f on debut and the form of her York second has also worked out. Onesarnieshort is one who should improve for a step up in trip but I hope Indian Warrior runs well and he has an each way chance.
Carol runs in the 1m fillies’ handicap at 8:15. I think the stiff finish will suit her and she should come forward for her second run since a short break. It is an open race and Deleyla has to be respected given she is lightly raced. Rinaria is a model of consistency and won last time whilst Alouja has fallen to a workable mark. She looks to be another of ours who holds each way claims today if she can return to the form she showed earlier in the year.
