We have now had two beautiful days in a row here in Newmarket and it makes a very pleasant change from the cold and wet weather we have been accustomed to.
Arnarson won well last night and he impressed me with the way he travelled and then found for pressure. He seems to have turned a corner in 2018 and is thriving at the moment. There are plenty of races for him on the all weather in the coming weeks and I hope he can be competitive off of his new mark.
King Kevin steps up in trip to 1m4f this afternoon at Lingfield. We felt it was worth trying him up in trip again as he did not get a clear run at Newcastle when we last tried 12f and if he does stay then his turn of foot could be potent. It looks a suitable opportunity for him as whilst it is a competitive race some of his rivals are hard to win with and he is running off if his old mark of 72. Regicide has shown a good level of form and has won returning from a break before but he did prove to be frustrating post his win in late April. If he can return to the form of his second at Kempton in a higher grade then he would be our biggest danger. Dream Magic has done his winning at Wolverhampton like us and he steps up in grade after routing the field in a claimer recently, he cannot be discounted having been second twice around Lingfield in the past. Rainbow Rebel has not won since four back to back wins in 2016 but the handicapper has started to relent. Canyon City has been running with credit over hurdles but has something to prove back on the flat whilst Bamako Du Chatelet are both out of form. Our horses are in great form currently and I really hope he can come a little for his return from a break last week and run a big race.
