Ed not worried about trip for Fairy

SNOW FAIRY, second favourite with British bookmakers behind last year's winner Vision d'Etat for the Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin on Sunday week, won't have a problem dropping back in distance, according to Ed Dunlop.

The trip was 2400 metres when Snow Fairy romped home in the Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup at Kyoto last month, but Ed does not see 2000 metres being any major inconvenience. He said:"Obviously, the mile and a half is Snow Fairy's optimum distance, but she is a filly with plenty of speed and, remember, she did win over six furlongs (1200 metres) as a two-year-old."

"Missing the Japan Cup gave us the extra time that she needed, but it was very satisfying to see Meisho Beluga, who was a four lengths runner-up to us in Kyoto, run so well to finish close up sixth in Tokyo, and, though the opposition looks tough, with not only Vision d'Etat standing in our way, but also Stacelita, Planteur and Hong Kong Derby winner Collection, Snow Fairy has taken the trip from Japan well, and we hope and believe that she will be competitive on the day."
