Dark Red Eases Ahead
Dark Red shed his maiden tag on his seventh appearance on the racecourse at Chelmsford last night. The son of Dark Angel has never been out of the first four and had been extremely unlucky in 2015, especially at Beverley when beaten a head. A gelding operation and a winter on his back appears to have made a difference and he comfortably accounted for his five rivals.
Due to technical difficulties there was no live feed from Chelmsford City last night but he was well positioned in behind the leaders by Ryan Moore and when he was asked for his effort the four year old gelding stretched out and saw his race out well to win by a length and a half. Whilst he had run over nine furlongs before this was his first try at the trip and it proved to be well within his compass. It may not have been the best handicap run at Chelmsford but it was a competitive affair as handicaps always are there due to the attractive prize money on offer.
Finally congratulations must go to his owner Mr Arculli and everybody in the yard who has worked so hard to get the horses fit and well. We hope it is the first of many winners for Mr Arculli in 2016.
