Chestnut Storm
Chestnut Storm took the short trip to Great Yarmouth yesterday to contest the one mile four furlong handicap, she was returning to action after a two month break. Tom Eaves was positive out of the stalls on our filly and he ensured that she was not too far off the early pace. Having travelled well early the daughter of Rip Van WInkle came under pressure rounding the bend but she soon started to make progress and work her way through the field. She had the leader Sexy Secret in her sights approaching the final two furlongs and gradually began to grind her down before moving away to win by two lengths.
This was a first win for Chestnut Storm and it was fully deserved after she produced a string of consistent placed efforts in the summer. The filly was having her first run on soft ground and she appeared to handle it well as she galloped right to the line. She has run well over further before and this one and a half mile trip would appear to be her minimum.
Congratulations must go to her owners Sir Anthony Page-Wood and Mr Jimmy Strauss who have both been very patient with her and we are delgihted they have been rewarded with this victory. We are now on forty six winners for the season and it would be great to get to fifty soon. Well done to everyone here at La Grange, the Winter jackets have come out of the cupboards as the mornings are getting colder but the hard work has continued. We have had a few injuries recently and we hope everyone who has been in the wars has a speedy recovery.
