Kingvoldt proves a fantastic purchase by Ed Dunlop and Gavin Hunter as he galloped away with the Group 3 at Kenilworth Racecourse, South Africa.
Ed flew over to South Africa last year for the Cape Premier Yearling Sales, purchasing five intriguing lots. Kingvoldt is the stand out horse of those purchases so far, winning three of his four starts including victory in a Listed and Group 3 race. He is by the late champion sire, Western Winter who tragically broke a leg after trying to stand up after colic surgery. Western Winter has sired seventy five Stakes winners, including twenty one Group 1 winners. Kingvoldt looks to have a bright future ahead of him and could possibly make the move to La Grange Stables.
His trainer, Joey Ramsden said after his 7 length victory at Kenilworth "He had the rest of the field off the bit at the 400m mark and treated the race as if he was out for a Sunday stroll. He won like a really good horse and although we knew he was something special, it is always a good feeling when they win so impressively."
Out of the five horses Ed bought at the Cape Premier Yearling Sales, three have won so far proving the trip was more than worthwhile.
