Amlad Comes Of Age As He Kickstarts An Across The Card Treble

Thu 20 April 2017

Amlad and Global Revival stepped on to the lorry at Midday on Tuesday and undertook a four hour journey up to the Yorkshire market town of Beverley. Given plenty of time to get over the tiring journey we hoped that the pair could be competitive in their respective races. Amlad had looked to have tightened up for his seasonal debut and he bounced out of the stalls and was able to dictate affairs in the 1m2f Maiden at 3:25. He gamely stuck out his neck and battled down the far rail to hold off the well backed Sir Michael Stoute challenger Sable Island by half a length.

It was Global Revival's turn next and the son of Kyllachy was smartly out of the stalls and tracked the leaders on the outside. As they headed into the straight our gelding was carried wide by Spirit Of Rome but he soon found his stride and started to wear down the leader The Blues Master. He got on top with a hundred yards to run and ultimately won cosily by three quarters of a length. He provided jockey Antonio Fresu with a winner on hsi first ride for us. The pressure was now on Mulzim at Wolverhampton in the 6:15 and he was thought by some as our best chance of the day. The son of Exceed And Excel did not disappoint and he travelled well before being sent on to win his race at around the furlong pole and holding on by a neck.

The handicapper cannot be too hard on Amlad given he was rated 78 going into his race and it will be a big surprise if his mark is changed. The son of Lope De Vega stayed very well and a mile and a half should be within his compass at some stage during the season. Global Revival was winning for the third time and once more improved for a step up in trip, he will go up a few pounds but given he won by less than a length the assessor cannot get too carried away with him. Mulzim was making his handicap debut and he will now more than likely have to step up in grade to 0-75 company but the winning margin means he will now move into the low 70s.

Congratulations must go the winning connections of Amlad, Global Revival and Mulzim. Mr Al Naboodah, Dr Johnny Hon and Sheikh Hamdan are all big supporters of the yard and it was fantastic to get them all a winner on the same day. Well done to everyone at La Grange, trebles are very rare and to get a treble from three runners on the day was very satisfying for everyone involved with La Grange. The treble made it twelve winners for the season and we hope this can help propel us forward as we move into a key period with many horses ready to run in the near future.
