Al Hamd leading a piece of work on the Al Bahathri
Al Hamd built on the promise he showed as a two year old when winning the one mile maiden at Kempton Park last night in good style. The son of Intikhab broke well from his draw in stall 8 and he soon won the battle for the lead with the debutant General Hazard dropping back to track him. Luke Morris was then able to dictate the race from the front and Al Hamd quickened nicely clear when asked.
Our gelding won with great authority but the form has to be treated with some caution. Al Hamd had posted the best piece of form on offer by a clear margin coming into the race and the second had made his debut in a race at Kempton that may not have been as strong as the handicapper initially thought. He looks like he will be a lovely horse for the 2016 campaign but we hope the handicapper will take the view that he was entitled to win as he did. The second favourite had a very bad passage throughout the race and everything fell perfectly for our gelding.
Finally I would like to congratulate Al Hamd's owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum on his gelding's success and we hope there will be many more successes to come in 2016.
