AL BURKAAN, who had been doing all his best work at the finish over seven furlongs at Wolverhampton last time, duly delivered when stepped up to the mile at Newmarket on Friday night.
Even the Scissors Sisters, who provided the post-race entertainment, could not have failed to have been impressed at the gear-change produced by Al Burkaan, who came from last to first under a confident ride from Jamie Spencer to put the race to bed in a matter of strides in the final 200 yards.
Al Burkaan won going away by two and a quarter lengths in the colours of Ahmad Al Shaikh, and Ed observed with a wry smile:"After Wolverhampton, Jamie and I agreed that a mile was the way to go, and it looks as if we were right."
