Acclamation makes a proclamation of victory!

Sun 03 February 2019

The three-year-old gelding Global Acclamation got off the mark yesterday at Chelmsford in determined fashion, taking the six-furlong handicap under a skilful Liam Keniry ride. The victory was particularly notable as it was the first in the blue and red silks of the Global Group Lifestyle and Sports Club.

The horse had proved a tricky puzzle to solve prior to yesterday's breakthrough, as he had at times raced like a step up in trip would suit, whilst on other occasions he appeared to show the zip for sprinting. Dropped to a mark of 54, with blinkers fitted and over a distance of six-furlongs, we finally found the winning formula. He was nudged along out the gates, but found a nice position in cover after a furlong or so. Turning for home his rider asked for a bit more effort and Global Acclamation quickly moved forward to join issue.

With neither Amor Kethley nor Valley Belle lying down easily in the home straight, there was ample opportunity for Global Acclamation to shirk the issue, but he showed a fine attitude and found plenty for pressure, staying on to gain a half-length winning verdict.

The son of Acclamation now has a record of one win from seven starts, and it is hoped he can build on this maiden victory. The tight finish should ensure the handicapper doesn't dish out undue punishment, so it is hoped that Global Acclamation will remain competitive in similar company in the future.

Many congratulations from all at La Grange Stables to the winning owners – let us hope this is just the first of many victories in those silks.
