Vivre Pour Vivre won the 740 maiden at Wolverhampton for us last night. It looked a warm maiden beforehand with one or two talking horses in opposition but the son of Pour Moi travelled well throughout the race and delivered on the promise he had shown at two. Silvestre De Sousa was riding his 1000th winner in the UK and his experience showed as he executed a patient stalking ride to perfection. Our colt will have benefited immensely from the considerate ride he was given and hopefully he can make his mark when he enters handicap company.
Blushes brought up a 39-1 double for La Grange when landing the concluding 7f handicap. She was drawn out wide in stall 9 and had top weight after a break, so it was a very pleasing performance indeed. Pat Cosgrave sensibly dropped her out early and saved ground on the rail in the early stages of the race. As the tempo quickened she was being niggled along but she found for pressure and rounding the home turn she was working her way into the race. The gaps opened up perfectly for her and she was brave in taking them. She kept finding right to the line and won by just over a length. The first division was won in a much faster time so hopefully the handicapper will take that into consideration when he reassesses her.
Finally I would like to congratulate Mr and Mrs Roy who own Vivre Pour Vivre and The Sagacious Lot who own Blushes. I hope they can both build on these runs and win again for you in 2016.
