Purchased by Ed in conjunction with Highflyer Bloodstock and Harry Dunlop for Andrew and Jane Megson from Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for 115, 000 guineas this colt is a son of first season sire Sottsass, whose offspring were popular at the sales with an average sale prive over 70, 000 guineas. He is a regally bred, three time Group 1 winning son of Siyouni, out of a Galileo mare with an outstanding deep pedigree. Sottsass excelled at middle distances with wins including the Prix du Jockey Club and the Prix De L’Arc de Triomphe.
When running Acquainted was a lightly raced highly tried filly who finished 2nd in a Chester Oaks and is the daughter of classy and consistent middle distance Sharmadal mare Love Everlasting – herself a Group 3 and multiple Listed race winner. A producer of horses that have shown their best over trips of 1m + including Furrion, a listed winner and grouped placed horse in Australia , which included a 2nd place finished over 1m2f at Group 3 level.
With a pedigree that suggest he will be seen to his best over middle distance, this compact athletic colt looks well balanced and is handling his early work at La Grange with ease. We look forward to seeing how he matures and what next year will have in store for him.
