THUNDERING HOME did exactly as his name suggests to score at Southwell on December 29.
The son of Storming Home produced a sustained challenge through the final stages and emerged victorious in the hands of jockey Hayley Turner.
It was success at the third time of asking for the grey, who made the frame three weeks ago at Lingfield. He maintained his progress with this 4/1 win, powering home after being held up early on by Turner. Thundering Home moved smoothly into contention from just over 2f out before being driven from the furlong pole. He found a lovely rhythm for Turner through the closing strides to collar Gold Party and then prevail by a length.
Ed Dunlop's charge can hopefully progress further through his three-year-old career in 2010.
