05-11-2009 Ektimaal strikes late at Lingfield
EKTIMAAL got up in the dying strides to land the 6f handicap at Lingfield on November 5.
Jockey Hayley Turner dropped the six-year-old in towards the rear of the field as there was a frantic early pace on upfront.
On entering the straight Turner still only had one behind her and was forced to switch wide for a run.
However, she had plenty of horse beneath her and Ektimaal quickened up well to strike late, winning by three-quarters of a length.
The son of Bahamian Bounty benefited from the strong early tempo and Turner’s confident waiting tactics worked out well as Ektimaal notched his fifth career win.
