11-06-2009 Candy Ride on target at Nottingham
CANDY RIDE gained a first career success when taking a 1m maiden at Nottingham this afternoon (June 11).
It was the daughter of Pivotal’s third outing on a racecourse and despite still showing a little inexperience she did the job well under Stephen Donohoe.
Rick Barnes’ filly was sent off a 3-1 chance having been second to a useful type at Windsor when last seen in action.
She was ridden just off the pace today and was always travelling strongly. She took up the running 2f out and despite being challenged by a number of rivals stayed on well under pressure to score by a length.
Like many of her sire’s progeny she appeared to appreciate the ease in the ground and, fingers crossed, can keep progressing as the season unfolds.
Her win continued the top form of her trainer Ed Dunlop who has saddled three winners over the last three days.
