09-06-2009 Connections mulling Aqwaal’s options
TRAINER Ed Dunlop has a number of options for progressive colt AQWAAL ahead of next week’s Royal meeting.
The son of Red Ransom will be trying to complete a four-timer following victories at Goodwood and Sandown and also more recently in a valuable handicap at Newbury.
Possible targets for Sheikh Hamdan’s colt are the Listed Hampton Court Stakes, the King George V handicap and the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes.
Dunlop said: “Aqwaal is very well. The form of his Newbury win could hardly have turned out better and he is still improving.
“He has a number of entries at Ascot including the King Edward VII but I shall have to have a discussion with Sheikh Hamdam and Angus Gold before a firm decision is made on which race he goes for.”
