02-06-2009 Satwa Laird primed for Epsom task
TRAINER Ed Dunlop has indicated that SATWA LAIRD is a likely runner at Epsom on Friday.
The son of Johannesburg finished fourth on his seasonal reappearance at York's Dante meeting and connections are hoping he has come on from that run and can be competitive once again.
Dunlop said: “Satwa Laird could run in the seven-furlong handicap on Oaks day. We were pleased with his comeback fourth at York and he should be suited by the track.”
Another interesting runner for Dunlop this week is the two-year old ALMADAA who will contest a 6f maiden at Lingfield on Thursday.
Sheikh Hamdan’s Exceed and Excel colt was very green on his debut in a similar event at York where he finished ninth.
Dunlop added: “He was too green at York and was stuck on his own a bit wide. That was a decent race and he has come on a lot from that.
“He is a colt who possesses plenty of speed and could race over five furlongs in the future.”
