19-05-2009 Haydock option for Ascot-bound Fareer
CONNECTIONS are weighing up whether to send recent winner FAREER to Haydock this Saturday for the valuable Silver Bowl Handicap.
Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum’s son of Bahamian Bounty gave a smart performance at Chester to secure a second career success.
Trainer Ed Dunlop is pleased how his charge has returned from that assignment and indicated that he may run him again this weekend ahead of a planned trip to Royal Ascot.
Dunlop said: “Fareer could run on Saturday in the Silver Bowl at Haydock where he is also entered in the seven-furlong handicap.
“He has taken his Chester race well and hopefully can continue improving as the season goes on. His mid-summer aim is the Britannia Handicap at Royal Ascot next month.”
Other high-profile runners for Dunlop this week include Mischief Making and Chantilly Tiffany.
Mischief Making will ship to Germany for a shot at the 38th Betty Barclay-Rennen, a Group 3 over 2m at Baden Baden, Germany on Thursday.
Dunlop confirmed: “This Thursday Mischief Making competes in Germany where we hope she can gain further ‘black type’.
“She has already won at Listed level and it would be wonderful if she can do the same in Group company.”
The four-year old filly landed a Listed race at Lingfield last year and on her last start finished a very creditable second in the Group 3 Sagaro Stakes at Ascot three weeks ago.
Another intended Pattern-race runner for the La Grange team is Chantilly Tiffany who is entered in the Group 3 Ridgewood Pearl Stakes – worth 65,000euros – at The Curragh on Saturday.
Dunlop said: “She didn’t enjoy the fast ground (in the Chartwell Fillies Stakes) at Lingfield the other week and we’re hopeful that she’ll get conditions to suit in Ireland at the weekend.”
