25-04-2009 Aqwaal wins handicap debut
We were delighted to see Aqwaal back in the winners enclosure yesterday when scoring on his handicap debut at Sandown over ten furlongs.
Partnered by Sheikh Hamdan’s second jockey, Tadhg O’Shea, this three year old colt broke well and sat in behind the leaders. Aqwaal took the lead at the furlong pole and went on to win by two and a half lengths from Polly’s Mark.
Dunlop quoted, “I am delighted that he won and it appeared that he handled Sandown and the decent ground very well. The step up to a mile and a quarter also helped. I hope he will go on and improve for this run.”
