Sister Maria was back in form at Newmarket on Friday, when she won the Newmarket Challenge Whip Handicap. Partnered once again by Dane O’Neill, Sister Maria jumped well and happily dictated the pace throughout the mile and a quarter contest. She was headed a furlong out, but battled back gamely to win by half a length from Royal Fantasy.

It was great to see her back in form as she has run consistently since her last win but just kept coming up against one too good for her. We will now look for another winning opportunity for her before she is retired to the paddocks.
