10-07-2007 Emerald Wilderness wins on first start for Ed Dunlop
Emerald Wilderness made it one win from one run for his new trainer Ed Dunlop, when he won the Cheviot Asset Management Handicap at Windsor last night. Frankie Dettori took the ride on the three year old gelding, who has only been in training with us for a couple of weeks, after moving from Mick Channon’s yard.
He was a little keen in the early stages so Frankie allowed him to bowl along in front before steadying it up on the bend six furlongs out. Turning in for home, he was still travelling well and drew clear two furlongs out to win the race comfortably.
This was a great result for the horse who has got some good form from his previous runs and we will probably look to run him again before he gets reassessed by the Handicapper.
