22-06-2007 Dalvina third in the Ribblesdale
We were all thrilled to see Dalvina back in form yesterday, when she was third in the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Jamie Spencer was back on board the filly, who was held up towards the rear of the field in the early stages of the mile and a half contest. She was always travelling well and two furlongs out, Spencer pulled her out wide to challenge the leaders.
Dalvina showed a good turn of foot and made up a lot of ground in the closing stages. She was just held off for second place by the Oaks third, All My Loving, with Silkwood winning impressively.

Dalvina
After a striking performance in the Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket in May, Dalvina was disappointing in the Oaks, where she did not handle the track or the soft ground. She seemed to relish the conditions at Ascot yesterday and proved herself the filly that we had all aspired her to be early on in the season.
It is likely that Dalvina will now enjoy a well deserved rest in the paddocks before coming back later on the season.
