Alternative Fact
Good afternoon from Newmarket. There is more thrilling racing for us to enjoy at Glorious Goodwood today, though I hope the weather is kinder than it was yesterday!
We are not involved at Goodwood sadly, but do have an interesting runner in the 7.10 at Sandown this evening in the shape of Alternative Fact. The four-year-old son of Dalakhani takes his chance in the 0-95 mile handicap at 7.10, as he attempts to build on a couple of encouraging displays on his two most recent appearances.
At this venue back in June he was a fine third behind History Writer on his first start over a mile for some time, and he followed it up with another creditable third place finish at Newmarket 11 days ago. It was great to see him string two good runs together, as he was threatening to become rather disappointing at the start of this campaign.
An easy ground mile seems to be his ideal conditions, and although it is drying today at Sandown hopefully they will hold on to safe good ground at least. He has run twice at this venue before, and his rider Rab Havlin knows him well. So we go to the races hoping for a good run, but the weight concession he has to give to some potentially very useful three-year-olds could prove very tricky. Hopefully we will get some luck and Alternative Fact can be competitive.
All the best,
Ed.
