Hello from Newmarket! We venture to Kempton today with last time out winner Baasha, who runs in the mile and three-furlong 0-70 handicap at 7.15.
It was a thrill to see Baasha finally get his head in front at Chelmsford earlier in the month, under a lovely ride from regular partner Rab Havlin. I am delighted to say that Rab is riding again this evening, but the pair's task will undoubtedly be tougher. The handicapper has had his say, raising Baasha by three pounds for his victory, whilst an extra furlong takes us to the upper reaches of his stamina limit.
His jockey is fairly confident that the trip is within reach and he has run very well over this evening's course and distance before. This is a tougher assignment than the race he won, but we will use familiar tactics and ride him cold and for a bit of luck. Hopefully events will unfold in his favour and he should not be far away from rewarding each way support.
All the best,
Ed.
