Grandscape
Another cold but dry day here at HQ and there is a light breeze which will dry the ground at the Rowley Mile a little. It looks an interesting day of racing for a normal Wednesday and there are likely to be some informative Maidens and there is also a Sandown Conditions race which has only attracted a small field but Il Primo Sole who was so impressive at Yarmouth is in the field.
Vision Clear ran a promising race on his second start in the 1m Novice at Newcastle last night. He learnt plenty in amongst the field and I think he could make up into quite a nice three year old next year. Faay ran in what looked an above average 6f Novice event there and she was not disgraced. The Lacemaker was very disappointing, she seemed fresh and well beforehand but she did not pick up and has lost her way currently.
We run seven horses at three meetings today. Ruysch runs up at Beverley in the 14:20 7f Novice fillies’. She has shown ability on the track in her first two runs and I felt that a pair of blinkers could sharpen her up. Sempre Presto should improve on her debut run and Celestins has to be respected but I hope she can be thereabouts if she returns to her best form. King Kevin runs in what looks a weak contest at 5:05. He has a bad draw out wide in stall ten but I would hope he can run a good race as his mark looks workable on what we see at home.
Global Angel runs at Sandown in the 2:00. It looks like a strong Novice and he is very much a work in progress, he is drawn badly in eleven and I think that the opposition will be too strong for him today. Al Nafoorah runs in the 3:40 at the Esher venue. She has been a star for us this season and just when you think the handicapper has her, she produces another career best. Dynamic is very lightly raced and on pedigree she could have a fair amount of improvement in her. She is not the only last time out winner and it looks a strong race for the grade with Madeleine Bond still on an upward curve and Clearly still very unexposed. Our filly is likely to run her race and she is a course and distance winner but we are hopeful rather than confident.
Mr Gent makes his debut in the 2:10 at Yarmouth. There look to be some nice types in opposition on paper and he is likely to need time to be seen at his best. Grandscape is another who makes his debut and who will improve with racing. He is a likeable type but the second division could be the stronger of the two and he will know more in the future.
Wealth Tax is our final runner in the 4:55 at Yarmouth. He will love the ground and I would expect him to run his race but he is vulnerable to an unexposed one. Zabeel Prince could be well handicapped given he has only had the two starts and he will enjoy the ground. If he has any chinks in his armour then I hope our horse can take advantage of them but it is a case of us hoping we can win rather than being full of confidence that we will turn over the favourite.
