Agar's Plough
It has been another dry day here at HQ and the final meeting of the year will start on fast ground amazingly. We are due 5-6mm of rain before racing on Saturday which could move the ground back to good and maybe a fraction easier.
Arnarson and Storm Jazz both disappointed on Monday. Arnarson did not handle the soft ground and we will return him to the all-weather whilst Storm Jazz needs a Winter to strengthen up and she will then hopefully build on the promise she showed earlier in the year.
We run two horses today. Dubai Frame runs in the 12:30 at Nottingham. He is a lovely stamp of a horse who looks like he will improve with age. Anything he does today will be a bonus but he is a type to do better with racing and I feel he will once more need the experience today.
Agar’s Plough (1:00 Nottingham) ran very well at Ascot on his penultimate start and then was slightly disappointing last time at York. He was up with the pace there and out wide so I hope we can find some cover today from the draw and that he can run a respectable race. The favourite Ispolini is highly touted but if he does not live up to his billing then I hope we won’t be too far away. Rich Identity ran well on debut but didn’t seem to step forward from that run on his second start whilst Come On Tier shaped very well on debut and looks a horse who will improve with racing. Petit Palais is well-bred and has to be respected and the second division looks the stronger of the two races.
