John Dunlop has won a couple of Goodwood Cups with Sergeyevich and Lucky Moon, and how Ed would love to emulate his father by capturing the prestigious two-miler with RED CADEAUX at stage three of the 'Glorious' meeting on Thursday.
The boss said:"Red Cadeaux obviously enjoyed the rain-softened ground when he sluiced home in The Curragh Cup, but he does not necessarily need a mudbath and I think he will be fine on the ground. He stays two miles well and there are precious few options for a horse like him, so we have decided to throw our hat in the ring."
"We also launch a couple of nice two-year-olds in the New Ham Maiden, but it is always difficult to win first time out at Goodwood, especially at this meeting. They will benefit from the experience, however, though we have been done no favours with the draw, WASPY being in 13 and NEGIN even worse in 19."
"Finally, we run DRAGONERA in the mile and a half handicap. She has won three of her last four races and is an improving filly. She is 5lb higher and will obviously find this tougher than she did at Wolverhampton, York or Ripon, but she deserves a crack at a big pot, and we've got Frankie (Dettori)."
