Gloryette
We have had some more rain overnight here and the 10mm that fell in a heavy shower yesterday should mean that the ground will be beautiful on the July Course when racing resumes there on Friday. Unfortunately the ground will be a lot softer at Ascot when the Royal meeting starts today which is a shame as it has meant there have been a lot of horses taken out. It stills look like a fantastic days action and the St James Palace Stakes looks to be the highlight.
We don’t have any runners at the Royal meeting today but will on the Wednesday through to the Friday. There are three La Grange runners spread across Beverley and Thirsk. Gloryette runs at Beverley in the 8:10 and ran well on an easy surface on debut at Sandown. I hope the rain there will help her chances, she has shaped as if this step up in trip will suit and has contested some hot maidens.
Booshbash makes her debut in the 2:10 at Thirsk, the ground will be well watered after yesterday’s abandonment and that should suit her but she will improve for the run. Warrior Prince has shaped with promise at both Windsor and Newmarket and I hope he will run well today, he hasn’t quite seen his races out the last twice so we may well be more patient and hopefully he will then see his race out well.
It is Mrs D’s birthday today as you may have read in the Racing Post but she still rode out two lots and then headed into the office. We went to the London Sale last night and it was very well attended, Jet Setting topped the sale at £1.3m, she should have a very good chance in The Coronation with the ground in her favour.
