Dark Angel ex La Reine Mambo
We have had another dry day here and thankfully the ground continues to dry around the country. The horses all seem to be in good health and we took them to Side Hill and Warren Hill this morning.
It was fantastic to win the prestigious City and Suburban handicap at Epsom yesterday with Dark Red. He was three pounds wrong at the weights but we felt it was worth running him given the prize money and thankfully it paid off. There was a fantastic atmosphere there in part due to Epsom’s initiative of giving free tickets to those with a local post code. Newmarket did a similar thing at the Craven meeting to celebrate 350 years of racing in the town and the crowd was significantly boosted there. It improves the atmosphere at cards which deserve to be well attended and is something more racecourses should look at doing.
Scrutinise disliked the track in the Great Metropolitan and we will put a line through his run and bring him back for another handicap when he is ready. Oasis Fantasy was not at ease on the ground so we will look for better ground when we run him next.
It is sad to see that the opposition to Air Force Blue has thinned today after the defection of Emotionless from the 2000 Guineas. He looked very exciting in his first two runs and brushed aside the recent Free Handicap winner Ibn Malik easily. We will hopefully see him back on a racetrack in the not so distant future.
We have no runners today but we have three runners tomorrow and then four runners on Saturday. Sunday is looking like being a blank day potentially but we look like being busy in the early part of next week.
