Sukoot
It was a very hot morning here in Newmarket and whilst it remains very muggy and warm, it has now become slightly overcast. The forecast seems to have remained dry and we are looking like having quick ground at Royal Ascot next week.
I was delighted that Sporting Times won at Lingfield on Tuesday evening. He stepped forward from his seasonal debut and ended up winning a shade cosily. He is from a nice staying family and I hope he can improve with time. First Quest was disappointing yesterday, he moved up to briefly look a threat on the rail and then faded. He may not have stayed 10f on his first attempt at the trip but I hope he will improve on this seasonal debut next time.
We only have one runner today in the 2:10 at Nottingham. Sukoot is an unraced son of Sir Prancealot who I would expect to learn a lot for this career debut. I hope he can show us some promise for the future but there are some solid types who have recorded RPRS in the 80s as well as a well-bred Godolphin newcomer and it will take a big run to beat them on his first start.
