Solajan
It will not be long before the clocks change and the temperatures are dropping rapidly here at HQ. We will unfortunately not be running Trip To Paris in the Long Distance Cup on Champions Day and he will now go for a Winter break before coming back in next year.
We were very pleased to have a winner at the start of the week when Chestnut Storm won well at Yarmouth on her first try on soft ground, she will now head to the sales and she will make a fun jumping prospect for someone. Earlier on at Yarmouth Blushing Red ran well in fourth and stayed on promisingly, he will be put away for the year now whilst Jive Factor failed to get home in the ground.
I run five horses this evening at Chelmsford and Zamjar is our first runner in the 6f Nursery. He is returning from a break and it looks like a very competitive event with Dubai One looking well treated. There are a lack of opportunities for a horse of his profile currently and so we have had to run this evening, he is a horse I like and we hope he can run well but I would expect him to improve on this run next time. Solajan runs in the 7f Maiden at 6:50 and he is a scopey son of Lope De Vega who I hope will prove to be a useful horse in time. I expect him to learn a lot from this experience and it looks to be a competitive affair with horses already rated in the high 70s and a John Gosden More Than Ready newcomer in opposition.
Magdalene Fox and Oud Metha Bridge run in the second division of the 7f Maiden and I hope they can both step forward from their debut runs. Asaas and Voice of Truth have both shown themselves to be above average and Dutch Quality is likely to improve on a very encouraging debut but I hope they can give us some encouragement for the future. Wealth Tax runs in the last at 9:20pm, the favourite Barjeel sets the bar very high but there are very few opportunities for our gelding at this time of year and so we have had to take him on. We are drawn wide in stall ten which is not ideal but hopefully he can break well and take a step forward from what was a pleasing first run.
