Fabulous Red
There is a little cloud cover here at HQ but the July meeting will start on perfect good ground and will then get faster as the meeting progresses. We have our owners’ lunch today and it will be a busy afternoon, I am very glad it is going to be dry.
Enola was our only runner at Yarmouth yesterday, she is better on good to firm ground and I think that the ten furlong trip was too sharp for her. We thought it was worth chancing our arm as she sells tomorrow evening at the Tattersalls July sale.
We have two runners today. Arnarson is our first runner up at Carlisle in the 1:30. He appears to be in good form after a short-break and I hope he can replicate his all-weather form here. The stiff finish over this trip is a bit of a worry but thankfully the ground has dried out and so it is less of a concern than it would have been on easier ground. Kynren ran well on his only start and is the horse we all have to beat and True Colors could well be a nice horse. There are only the six runners and it would be nice to break his Maiden but we are well aware that Kynren could improve on his debut and if he does he will more than likely win.
Fabulous Red is a quirky filly who has shown us ability at home and ran a fantastic race on debut when she was a little unlucky to finish second at Doncaster. We are ponying her to the start today and I hope we can keep her calm. If she stays relaxed then she should have a good chance if she steps forward from her debut. Maybride sets the standard on her Royal Ascot run and should improve back up at 6f. Spring Cosmos is from the Appleby stable and must be respected given their record with first time out two year-olds and there is a number of well-bred two year olds in the field. It will be an informative race and I look forward to seeing our filly run.
