THE TIGER made his return to the track a winning one when taking the mile maiden in impressive style at Ripon last night, scoring easily under Tom McLaughlin. The Johnny Weatherby owned four year old showed no ill effects of his lengthy lay off having made a promising debut at Kempton in April of last year. The Tiger Hill gelding was slowly away before gradually creeping into contention and ran on well to lead in the last fifty yards to overcome Cathedral by a length and a quarter. The pair drew seven lengths clear of the remainder which suggests he did this a shade cosily and is expected to improve again.
