Teenage Gal
Teenage Gal delivered the second half of a La Grange double when determinedly scoring in a fillies handicap over seven furlongs at Chepstow yesterday evening. Significant rain had fallen overnight, turning the ground officially good to soft. Although Teenage Gal had shown that she handled easy ground as a two-year-old, the change in conditions saw her drift from a short price overnight all the way out to 5/1 in places.
However, no one had informed the daughter of Acclamation about the drift, and she proved the strongest finisher in a tremendous three-way tussle. David Probert held her up in touch in a field that spread right across the track, and she had the benefit of the far rail to guide her as she made her effort inside the final furlong. It looked at various points as though Lamb Chop or Slipstream might just edge the verdict, but Teenage Gal stuck her neck out to cling on by a short head.
This was a richly deserved success for a filly that had finished second twice previously, and adds significantly to her paddock value. She is a half-sister to the US Grade-2 placed Mittersill, out of the two-time winner Bobbie Soxer, herself a half-sister to former John Dunlop favourite and high-quality sire Big Bad Bob.
We send our warmest congratulations to her owner Mrs Patino and thank all the staff for their continued hard work in the yard.
