So easy for Wiqaaya

Mon 28 March 2011

WIQAAYA, who had shown plenty of promise in two decent looking maidens on the turf last summer, duly made it third time lucky with a facile success in the 7f maiden on the Polytrack at Wolverhampton on Monday.

Starting at the prohibitive odds of 1-14, Wiqaaya, who, being a daughter of American stallion Red Ransom, was never going to have any problems with the surface, made all under Richard Hills and scooted clear up the straight to win easing down by six lengths.

Wiqaaya, who is owned by his breeder, Sheikh Hamdan Al-Maktoum, is clearly capable of better, and Ed said:"Her mother was fast, and she comes from the same family as Middle Park winner Hayil, so, besides having definite ability, she has a smashing pedigree."

Ed has declared Sheikh Hamdan's FAREER at the five-day stage for the Lincoln on Saturday - Fareer was last seen when finishing second in the Group 2 Zabeel Mile at the Dubai Carnival - and also RED CADEAUX holds entries in both the Magnolia Stakes and the Rosebery on the Polytrack at Kempton.
