Snow Fairy handed outside draw

Fri 11 November 2011

SNOW FAIRY, who defends her Queen Elizabeth 11 Commemorative Cup crown at Kyoto on Sunday, has not enjoyed much luck since she arrived in Japan this year and Dame Fortune was again on the other side of the net when they made the draw for the Grade 1 race today and allocated our globetrotting superstar the 18 stall in the 18 runner field.

Ed said: "I would rather have drawn six, which she had last year, than been stuck on the wide outside but Snow Fairy's style of racing means that it is not the end of the world as she comes from the back of the field in her races and Ryan (Moore) would have had to be patient anyway."

"Snow Fairy was fresh and well when she had her final canter on the course this morning and a trot on the dirt tomorrow should leave her spot on for the race. She has been eating and drinking well and her weight is what it was in Europe. The infection that she had has virtually cleared up and we are very happy with her, so all we can do now is cross fingers and toes and hope for the best."
