Sharnberry heads for Royal Ascot

Sun 29 May 2011

SHARNBERRY, who came out best of the Brits when finishing fifth to the smart Golden Lilac in the French 1000 Guineas at Longchamp, could run next at Royal Ascot, though she is a filly who enjoys some juice in the ground, so the weather will determine her programme.

Ed said:"We might have to think again if the ground comes up firm, but I would like to run Sharnberry at the Royal meeting if she gets the right underfoot conditions."

"She could stay with the glamour gals and head for the Group 1 Coronation Stakes, but we will also have a look at the Fern Hill and the Sandringham and decide which route to take nearer the time. I think that she showed in France that she got the mile. I know that they swallowed her up late on, but she had seen too much daylight and had she been able to get some cover I am confident that she would have finished her race better."
