The curtain has been drawn on a successful season for La Grange Stables and it has come to that time of year when most of the horses are being wound down into trotting mode for the winter months. There will however be a handful of two year olds kept on the go for a campaign on the all weather which was kick started over the last couple of days with wins from CONTRIBUTER and GWORN at Wolverhampton.
The yearlings are arriving gradually and some have been out at ridden exercise on the Severals (above) and are becoming accustomed to Newmarket life. There are some interesting pedigrees among them, notably a feisty daughter of Queen Mary Stake's winner Gilded and a few by Galileo, which is exciting as there have not been any trained here in the past by the top Coolmore sire.
The 2012 season gave the yard a total of forty one winners which included two Group 1 wins and a Group 2 success. Looking towards next year there are a selection of two year olds that will improve over the winter and of course who knows what will emerge from a nice looking string of yearlings so hopefully 2013 can be even better!
