San Diaco
Good morning from Newmarket. Just the one runner today, namely San Diaco in the three-year-old mile novice at Chelmsford at 6.00.
A striking grey son of Kodiac, he hails from a nice middle distance family featuring plenty of decent horses at a mile and a half plus. Although the Kodiac influence might be expected to inject some more speed into him, we are now well aware of the sire’s capacity to produce a middle distance horse and it is likely that in time San Diaco will need an extension in trip down the line.
He has not been the soundest horse all his life, but has come forward nicely in his work of late, and is ready for a racecourse introduction. There are several nice types in tonight’s race who set an exacting standard that we might not reach, but from a handy draw in stall five I would hope to see some positive signs for the future.
